NPORS Novice vs Experienced Worker Routes Explained
The difference between the NPORS novice and experienced worker routes, which one you qualify for, and how each is assessed.
NPORS offers two routes to certification: novice and experienced worker. Choosing the right one saves time and money. Here is how they differ.
The novice route
The novice route is for operators who are new to a machine. It includes full training followed by theory and practical testing, so it takes longer and costs more, but it teaches you the machine from the ground up.
The experienced worker route
The experienced worker route is for operators who already use the machine regularly. Instead of full training, it verifies your existing competence through a shorter assessment, so it is quicker and more cost-effective.
Which route do you qualify for?
If you have genuine, recent experience operating the machine on site, you will usually qualify for the experienced worker route. If you are starting fresh, the novice route is the right choice. When in doubt, ask our team.
Popular NPORS categories
Both routes are available across the NPORS machine range. See the full list on our NPORS courses page, or view a popular ticket like the telescopic handler (N010).
