Level 4 NVQ Qualifications

Level 4 qualifications cover site supervision and internal quality assurance. Supervisory NVQs support the Gold CSCS Supervisor card (IQA awards do not carry a CSCS route).

What is a Level 4 NVQ?

Level 4 covers two different routes: hands-on site supervision (including controlling lifting operations) and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) for assessors reviewing other candidates’ NVQ evidence. Both are assessed through workplace evidence and observation.

Who it’s for: experienced supervisors stepping up from a Level 3 trade role, lift supervisors, or existing assessors who need an IQA qualification to sign off NVQ evidence at a training centre.

How it works: a qualified assessor reviews your workplace evidence and carries out observations relevant to your supervisory duties. Timescales depend on your role and experience.

Where it leads: the Site Supervision and Controlling Lifting Operations diplomas support your application for the Gold CSCS Supervisor card. The IQA award itself has no CSCS card route, but is required to formally quality-assure other learners’ NVQ portfolios.
