Overview

This qualification is designed for learners working in a real workplace environment, allowing them to develop and demonstrate competence in transporting loads within the construction industry. Assessment is based on performance and knowledge statements derived from National Occupational Standards. A qualified assessor will guide and support learners throughout the process.

Mandatory Units

• Conforming to General Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace
• Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace

Optional Units (Choose One)

• Preparing and operating forward tipping dumpers
• Preparing and operating rear tipping dump trucks
• Preparing and operating tractors with towed equipment
• Preparing and operating trailer-mounted concrete pumps
• Preparing and operating self-propelled bowsers
• Preparing and operating static concrete placing booms
• Preparing and operating volumetric trucks

This qualification is supported by the Construction Plant Association (CPA).

Entry Requirements

No prior qualifications or training are required. Learners must be employed in a relevant role.

Progression

Upon completion, learners can advance to higher-level qualifications or move into supervisory and management roles. This NVQ is accepted by the industry as a valid entry qualification.

Qualification Structure

• Minimum Credits: 17
• Total Qualification Time (TQT): 170 hours
• Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 57 hours

To achieve this qualification, learners must complete two mandatory units (5 credits) and one optional unit (minimum 12 credits).

Assessment & Grading

Learners will be assessed against occupational standards by a qualified assessor and must compile a Portfolio of Evidence demonstrating competence. This qualification is not graded.
