Overview

This qualification is designed for individuals working in a real workplace environment, allowing them to develop and demonstrate competence in compacting materials within the construction industry. Assessment is conducted by a qualified assessor who will guide learners through the process.

Mandatory Units

• Conforming to General Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace
• Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace

Optional Units (Choose One)

• Preparing and operating soil compactors
• Preparing and operating landfill compactors
• Preparing and operating ride-on rollers

This qualification is supported by the Construction Plant Association (CPA).

Entry Requirements

No prior qualifications or training are required, but learners must be employed in a relevant role.

Progression

Successful learners can advance to higher-level qualifications or progress into supervisory and management roles. This NVQ is recognized as a valid entry qualification for industry roles.

Qualification Structure

• Minimum Credits: 21
• Total Qualification Time (TQT): 210 hours
• Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 70 hours

To achieve this qualification, learners must complete two mandatory units (5 credits) and one optional unit (minimum 16 credits).

Assessment & Grading

Learners will be assessed against industry standards by a qualified assessor and must compile a Portfolio of Evidence demonstrating competency. This qualification is not graded.
